When BOP Heat Pumps was tasked with adding total comfort to a modern multi-wing transformation of a 1980’s home in Tauranga, we were excited to deliver a system that rose to all the challenges presented. Along with effecting a contemporary renovation, the clients wanted to meet energy efficiency standards across the property, which includes a separate home office and gymnasium space - and a heated in ground swimming pool.

Functional Heating and Cooling in Open Plan Spaces

This property boasts excellent indoor/outdoor flow with a spacious kitchen that opens into a gorgeous dining area, inviting guests to drift through the bi-folds to a stylish alfresco entertainment space. Here BOP Heat Pumps installed the Lossnay Fresh Air Heat Recovery alongside a PEAD125 Ducted System, ensuring a discreet custom-designed grille delivery for air across the lounge, kitchen and dining room that arrives without a whisper.

Zoned Temperature Control

Altogether BOP Heat Pumps installed three separate ceiling concealed systems, which allows the family to control the temperature across different zones. In the main hallway, a smaller PEAD71 split ducted system feeds-controlled air into the children's rooms, while the master bedroom utilises a slimline SEZ-KD50 concealed unit. These interior solutions are complemented by total smartphone control and exterior units which are installed under the deck for a discreet aesthetic flow.

Energy Efficient Heating

When it came to maximising energy efficiency across the winter months, it was paramount that heating the pool was approached thoughtfully. BOP Heat Pumps came up with a smart solution that incorporates the advanced technology of an Ecodan Hot Water Pump with a cleverly devised mechanical deck cover. This increased heat retention impressively, elevating the temperature by an extra 2 degrees every one and a half hours. This allows the pool to be heated to peak temperatures within 24 hours and enjoyed all year round.

With a combination of Mitsubishi Heat Pumps, Lossnay Fresh Air Heat Recovery, and an Ecodan Hot Water Heat Pump, this Tauranga family have created a rural paradise to share with friends and family. By taking a whole picture approach and marrying heat pump technology to soundproofing insulation for all internal walls and premium wool ceiling insulation, the end result is a warm, dry, healthy - and luxurious home.
